The dancing and music of a culture has always affected and been affected by the culture itself. Here is a clip of some Venezuelan Merengue. I will offer my commentary at its conclusion.
In the orquesta style of merengue, which is the most popular, horns are the most prominent instruments, and are accompanied by saxophones, piano, timbales, hi-hate, conga, tambora, güira, and bass, with backup singers on occasion.

Two of the main types of dances in Venezuela are:
-The Joropo
This dance originated in Spain, and is speculated to have travelled over to the United States sometime in the nineteenth century. It is a dance for couples, and -- quite impressively -- has thirty-six steps.
Venezuelan Merengue
While most of Venezuela's main dances originated in Europe, the Merengue style of music and its subsequent dance, originated with the Merengue music, which is from the Caribbean. Teresa Carreño wrote several Merengue pieces, one of which is featured here.
