Adermatoglyphia

This genetic mutation has only affected 5 people in a Swiss family.

There is no known treatment for this mutation.

Fingerprints are used for identifying individuals, getting a grip on objects, and are helpful in your sense of touch! Individuals with adermatoglyphia, therefore, have a tough time doing simple tasks, and feeling slight movement on the parts of the body without prints.

This mutation does not only effect your fingerprints, but also your palm, toes, and sole prints.

This genetic mutation causes an individual to be born without fingerprints!

Even though it seems like you could live a consequence-free lifestyle, there are many symptoms that come with this mutation.

  • Reduced sweating
  • Thickening of skin
  • Blistering
  • Nail abnormality

  • Trouble crossing international boarders

This condition has been linked to a mutation in the gene SMARCAD1.

This mutation does not only affect your fingerprints, but also your palm and sole print.

This genetic mutation is linked to the chromosome 4q22.

It is a point mutation.
