Lines 5-8

5.) I came up once and hollered!

He came up 2 times and the water was to cold so he hollered and cried..

The theme of this poem we think is; There isn't always negative things in life, and life is the best gift to be given.

lines 1-4

1.) I went down to the river

2.) I set down on the bank

3.) I tried to think but couldn't

4.) So i jumped in and sank

He is trying to think if he should kill himself or not. Then he jumps in the water and sinks.

You may hear me holler and you may see me cry but baby you will never see me die. Life is as fine as the finest wines.

The water was cold. He went in an elevator and thought about his kid and thought about jumping.

I might've jumped and died.

But it was High up there! It was high!

So since I'm still here livin',

I guess I will live on.

I could've died for love—

But for livin' I was born

Though you may hear me holler,

And you may see me cry—

He didn't kill himself because he was to scared. He could've died because of love, but because he lived he was born.

18.) But it was high up there! It was high!

He stood there hollering, and crying but he got scared because he was to high off the ground.
