Office Etiquette

Out of the office?

Use of State Resources

Personal Appointments

  • Notify your Supervisor and Darla or Laurel (provide as much notice as possible)

  • Once approved, add to the SharePoint Calendar

  • Update automatic email response & voice mail:
  • Date of your return
  • Who to contact in your absence
  • Signature with contact information
  • An employee may make occasional, limited use of state resources for private benefit only if there is no actual cost to the College or if the cost is “de minimis” (insignificant or negligible) and use does not interfere with the performance of official duties. (Policy 417.030).

  • Cell phones - When possible limit calls to breaks and lunches.

  • If possible, give at least a week’s notice

  • Personal Appointment is all that is necessary as a reason

Vacation/Sick Time

  • Rachele’s staff to leave message with supervisor and Darla

  • Nicole’s staff to leave message with her and Laurel

  • Randy's staff to leave message with him and inform Rachele

  • Tenure staff to leave message with supervisor and Laurel

KP- Duty

Leaving for the Night

  • Each person in BHL 127 that uses the kitchen should help clean it

  • The KP duty list is on the SharePoint site quarterly

  • You are responsible to wash and put away your dishes daily

  • If you brought food back from a meeting or hosted a birthday party, you are responsible for cleaning it up by the end of the day

  • Check your refrigerated food weekly and toss out spoiled foods

• Socialization in the office

Miscellaneous

If you are the last one out at night, please make sure:

  • Both office doors & conference room doors are locked

  • All lights are turned off (the one by Tim’s office automatically stays on)

  • Coffee maker is off

  • Turn sign at front door to “Be back at 8”

• Emergency information:

  • Located on SharePoint
  • We are working on a Phone Tree

  • Keep socializing to a minimum or for break time

  • Keep volume low as to not interrupt others

  • Keep volume low in the conference room-voices carry
