Where They Practice

Origin

Animism is practiced anywhere where sacred power is concentrated. They use these sacred places to communicate with the spirit world.

About 200 years ago, in Haiti, a pact was signed, with the devil by an animistic witch doctor, under a sacred tree. When the Christians found out about this pastors came to the site and banished all spirits and evil away. Needless to say animists were displeased.

Animism is a religion that does not have origin or a specific founder. It instead developed simultaneously in different parts of the world. Although it was first documented in the 19th century by Sir Edward Tylor. Scientists believe that animistic beliefs go back to the Paleolithic age.
