The Oldest Child
Adler theorized that birth order can shape our personality. Birth order position can influence our style of life and habitual way of dealing with situations.

- fear of losing top/leader position
Birth order can shape us in ways we did not realize - our personality and behaviors.

The Middle Child
- sense of not belonging
- lonely, lacks drive, looks for direction
- natural mediators, avoid conflict
The Youngest Child
- often babied or pampered
- can lead to dependence, selfishness, irresponsibility
- outgoing, endearing, delightful friend
- manipulative and control-seeking if others are overbearing or bossy
The Only Child
- characteristics of either firstborn or youngest
- no rivals for parents' attention
- pampered and spoiled
- learn to depend on themselves
