Common Sentence Terms

Adverbs

  • Adverb: Can modify a verb, adjective, another adverb, a phrase, or a clause.
  • Example: Unfortunately, the bank closed at three today.

Pronouns

  • Pronoun: Can replace another noun.
  • Example:Whitney likes to sing.

She likes to sing.

Nouns

  • Noun: Used to name a person, place or thing.
  • Example: Miranda Lambert is a country singer from Texas.

Verbs

  • Verb: Asserts something about the subject of the sentence.
  • Example: Dracula bites his victims on the neck.
