T cells and B cells

After Infection

The cellular & The humoral-mediated responses

How do T cells recognize antigens and detect infected cells ?

*Adaptive immune response

*Primary infection.

Most of effector T cells die, and the rest becomes memory cells for a secondary infection.

1- Effector memory T cells.

They are found in the circulation.

They interact with a specific viral antigen.

2- Central memory T cells

They are found in lymphoid tissues.

They act as a storage of memory cells.

T cells detect processed viral peptides.

* APCs

CD4( T helper cell) recognizes MHC II.

* Most cell types

CD8 (cytotoxic T cell) recognizes MHC I.

Cytokines/ Co stimulatory singles

B lymphocytes

They recognize extracellular antigens such as antigens in bloodstream and at mucosal surfaces.

B cells are differentiated to plasma cells and memory cells.
