This timeline will explain what

happened to the Cherokee from

584 B.C to 1867 and why the events

are so significant to the Cherokee

tribes. :O

Cherokee fought with Andrew Jackson during the Creek War

Cherokee war on frontier which violates treaty with the redcoats

Smallpox strikes Cherokees and kills 1/2 of their tribe

Sequoyah creates a syllabary that contained pronunciations and letters

Cherokee originated in Asia and came to America across the Atlantic Ocean

93% of Cherokee Indians who are farmers have increased in having slaves (1,592 slaves) 7.4% of families now own slaves.

U.S Senate ratifies The Fraudlent New Echota treaty. Cherokees are given 2 years from this date (May 23rd) to remove themselves, yet again

Cherokee adopt a constitution

pattened by the U.S constitution

Gold is discovered on Cherokee land which prompts them to get forced out of their territory

Cherokee establish Supreme Court

Permanent Reservation built for the Cherokee Indians

National Capitol built for the Cherokee created in Tahlequah

"Trail of Tears" known as the removal of Cherokees(for the third time) in Georgia and ended in Oklahoma where the Eastern Cherokee and Western Cherokee nations reunited

William H. Thomas (only whiter man to be Principal Chief of the Cherokee) who became North Carolina state senator bought large amount of land in N.C.to be used by the Cherokee.
