William Blackstone and the Washing Machine
William Blackstone was an Indiana merchant. He built a machine to help his wife do the laundry for her birthday.
The washing machine can become many things in the future. Like maybe you wont need to use detergent, or it could be smaller but still have the same amount of storage space. Or they could make one that is portable. One that an be put in your pocket or your purse.
Laundry was the women's least favorite chore to do. Before the washing machine, they had to put it in boiling water, then scrub them the next day. Also sometimes they pound it with a rock, put the clothes in a bag, and and let the bag flow in the river or stream that is near (make sure the bag it tied to something).
William sold them for $2.50. It became a success.
