Elizabeth I

Became Queen of England

after her sister, Queen Mary

Elizabeth tried to Unite the country,by making both the Protestant and the Catholics happy

Notable:

-Killed Mary who was trying to kill her

-Crushed Spanish Armada attacking England

James I

Was of Scottish Royalty

before he took over as

King of England

Decided to not outlaw the Anglican Church because the church was a major supported of Monarchy

Charles I

Charles took over as King after his father James died. He inherited all the problems with religion that his father had.

Cut down the power of the

king by making Petition of Right which made sure that the Parliment had the last say on new taxes

English Civil War

When the King Charles Started to

arrest members of the Parliment

for taking away his power, a Civil

War broke out in England

In the first war the Parliament was victorious

The King then fled to

try to get help from

the Scots. The second

Civil War of England

ended with the King

being captured and

killed

The parliament got rid of the Monarchy and the House of the Lords

Cromwell was made the Commander and Chief of the Army

Cromwell also became the Lord Protector in the First Constitution

King Charles II remade the Monarchy and the House of Lords, but didnt take much power from the Parliament

Charles passed the Declaration of Indulgences which limited the power of the Parliament

Charles II was almost assissinated

so that his brother James could take the thone because he was openly Catholic.

James II

When James II was crowned king, because he was Catholic, the church of England disagreed with the crowning.

He also revised the Declaration of indulgence which now suspended all laws barring Cathlics dand Dissenter s from office

Glorious Revolution

William of Orange invaded England. Once he successfully took over England, a revolution started who would be the ruler

The Parliament said that because James had fled to France, the throne was open.

Bill of Rights

The Bill of Rights was made so that the Parliament has the power to make laws and levy taxes

The Bill of Rights did not

solve any of the religious

problems in England
