We observed the ladybugs each day to see if they would make it to adulthood in the habitat they were living in.
Can ladybugs be raised in winter in captivity?
2-14-14 - Tiny little bugs crawl around. They measure 1/2 a centimeter. They have black and yellow stripes. Most of them stay still unless you bug them.
2-16-14 - The larve look slightly longer, but still pretty much the same. They are moving around and eating, but it looks like they weigh more, so they are moving more sluggishly.
2-18-14 - The larvae are noticeably larger, and are leaving old shells everywhere! You can tell they are so close to moving into the pupa stage.
We think that they will not live because the cold winter is not the right habitat for them even though they will be indoors.
2-23-14 - Most of the bugs are dead, maybe it was the transportation from home to school.
2-21-14 - Most of the bugs have moved into their pupa stage. It's like they are in a cocoon, they are alive but they don't move for long periods of time.
We discovered that the cannot live in captivity in winter.
2-19-14 - The larve are growing longer and moving more and shedding all over and their stripes are more yellow.
