What is a comet?
Nucleus: The nucleus is the center of a comet and is the heaviest part of the comet.
Coma: As the ice melts, the coma forms on the comet. The coma is a giant cloud of dusts and gases that surround the nucleus.
Tail: Comets can either have a dust tail made from the dust from the coma or an ion tail made from particles knocked off the nucleus. The dust tails are easier to see from Earth because .
A comet is like a big chunk of ice, dust and frozen gases floating in the universe. Astronomers think that comets are leftover parts of old planets. They also nicknamed comets 'dirty snowballs'. Comets can range in all different shapes and sizes.

A comet could either come from Oort Cloud or the Kuiper Belt. The Kuiper Belt lies inside the Solar System and the Oort Cloud Lies outside our Solar System. Both these areas are packed with trillions of comets!
