One way the issues is presented in the story about him being abused. Is whenever his mother is at work or away from the house. His step fother abuses him physicaly and mentaly. Mentaly because he is always speaking rudly or meanly twoard John. And physicaly because he hits John. Then how he fits in at school. He only has a few friends and he likes this one gril Glory. But he is too afriad to ask her out. And now you have to read the book to find out what happens later in the story.
