He is kicking the ball

We are eating food together.

  • The Past Progressive shows ongoing action that was happening until another action occurred.
  • To make the Past progressive, use the helping verb WAS or WERE and by adding -ing to the main verb

Miss Norris was teaching until the

fire alarm rang.

**I was doing something until another action

STOPPED me from doing it. Now, my

teaching is in the past. **

They were planning a

surprise party when their friend

came over.

  • The future progressive forms shows ongoing action that will happen IN THE FUTURE.
  • To form the future progressive used the helping verb, WILL BE and the -ing form to the verb.

They will be playing in the superbowl.

The rain will be falling soon.

PAST TENSE: an action that has ALREADY happened. You cannot go back!
