While a reduction in general education classes would come at the expense of the ideal well rounded college education and require some administrative changes, the time and money saved by the students could help put a dent into their college debts.

A Solution

Our possible solution to this problem would be to cut the amount of gen eds that a student must take. While all of them cannot, and should not be cut, it would be argued that business major does not necessarily need to really have many science classes as they do right now. While various majors would continue to take the same amount of general education classes that pertain to their major as they do now, reducing them by even a few classes would help students save money and time. Ideally keeping the general eds required for a major would ease the strain on the administration and on professors, since the professor's end of things would mostly be the same.

What Needs to Happen

A possible solution would need to cut the overall costs of college without resulting in a lower quality of education for the students.

The Problem

College programs are far too expensive and many students end up trying to deal with a mountain of debt. Students end up being caught between tying to work during school which can negatively affect grades and the amount of learning that can take place during a student's college years, or not working and graduating from college with a massive amount of debt.
