5. The destruction of biological diversity

The Global Justice Movement describes the loose collection of individuals and groups—often referred to as a “movement of movements”—who advocate fair trade rules and are negative to current institutions of global economics such as the World Trade Organization

Other problems of globalisation:

The Gini coefficient measures the inequality among values of a frequency distribution (for example levels of income). A Gini coefficient of zero expresses perfect equality where all values are the same (for example, where everyone has an exactly equal income). A Gini coefficient of one (100 on the percentile scale) expresses maximal inequality among values (for example where only one person has all the income)

4. Loss of soveregnity of nation-states

NGO established in Bangkok. It combines policy research, advocacy, activism to generate critical thinking concerning corporate-led globalisation, neo-liberallism and militarisation.

Globalization - the process of exploiting economically weak countries by connecting the economies of the world, forcing dependence on (and ultimately servitude to) the western capitalist machine

In 1993 more than 40% of respondents were unfamiliar with the concept of globalization.

When the survey was repeated in 1998, 89% of the respondents had a polarized view of globalization as being either good or bad..

Economic growth, social development, and personal fulfillment can be achieved in the absence of what has become the religious-like devotion of the Western world, the United States most notably, to the doctrine of profit maximization over social responsibility, to the improvement of shareholder value over the improvement of human value, to the misplaced faith in cut-throat competition over political cooperation and fundamental decency. Indeed, perfect economic efficiency must not be the primary goal of society; rather economics must once again be approached as a means to an end, not as an end in itself.

The amount of raw materials needed to run industries and factories is taking a toll on the natural reserves of planet earth, and pollution has severely impacted the quality of air that we need so very much for our survival.

Anti-globalisation organisations organize debates, camapaigns and they raise awareness through media

The worldwide co-ordination of radical social movements, grassroots campaigns and direct actions in resistance to capitalism and for social and environmental justice.

6. The increase in environmental problems as the scale of economic activity areas

The movement is characterized by the massive citizen protests and alternative summits which have, for the last decade, accompanied most meetings of the G8, World Trade Organization, International Monetary Fund, and World Bank.

These are the hallmarks in their current version:

1. A very clear rejection of capitalism, imperialism and feudalism; all trade agreements, institutions and governments that promote destructive globalization.

2. Rejection of all forms and systems of domination and discrimination including, but not limited to, patriarchy, racism and religious fundamentalism of all creeds. Embracement of the full dignity of all human beings.

3. A confrontational attitude, since we do not think that lobbying can have a major impact in such biased and undemocratic organisations, in which transnational capital is the only real policy-maker.

4. A call to direct action and civil disobedience, support for social movements' struggles, advocating forms of resistance which maximize respect for life and oppressed peoples' rights, as well as the construction of local alternatives to global capitalism.

4. An organisational philosophy based on decentralisation and autonomy.

Occupy movement

Worldwide, Gini coefficients for income range from approximately 0.23 (Sweden) to 0.70 (Namibia) although not every country has been assessed.

Polarization increased dramatically after the establishment of the WTO in 1995; this event and subsequent protests led to a large-scale anti-globalization movement
