Wetlands can purify water by itself. The water slowly moves through the sedimentary rocks which allow the dirt and other stuff get trapped between the rocks and the water goes right through.
Since water goes to the lowest area possible, wetlands are usually where water stops. So next time you see rain water flowing down the street, it is probably leading to a wetland
