What is Adaptive Behavior?
-the manner in which people cope with the natural and social demands of their environments
Two Domains:
-Personal Independence: is designed to evaluate coping skills considered important to personal independence and responsibility in daily living
-Social Expectations: placed upon persons with MR in public and special schools
1. Determine strengths and weaknesses among adaptive domains and factors
2. Identify individuals who are significantly below their peers in important areas of adaptive behaviors
3. Document progress of individuals who are enrolled in intervention programs
4. Measure adaptive behaviors in research studies
Age:
-School: birth to 21
-Residence and Community: up through 79
