Puerto Rico Geography

The geography of Puerto Rico describes an archipelago located between the Caribbean seas and North Atlantic ocean, East of the Dominican Republic and west of the Virginia islands. The main island of Puerto Rico is the smallest and most eastern of the greater Antilles.

Puerto Rico's government is mostly Democracy and Republic. Democracy is were the government is run by the people. Republic is were supreme power is held by the people and their elective representatives.

Baseball is by far the most popular sport in Cuba. Other sports include soccer, basketball, volleyball. Cuba is a dominant force in amateur boxing consistently achieving high medal tallies in international competitions.

Cuban cooking is among the most interesting cuisines to be found in the Caribbean. Combining elements of tradition Spain with foods indigenous to the region Cuban food provides a powerful link to island memories and traditions.

The most popular spectator sports in Puerto Rico are American imports: baseball,basketball, and boxing. cockfighting and horse racing hark back to the islands Spanish roots and remain important elements of island culture.

Puerto Rico cooking is a unique tasty blend of Spanish, Africa, Taino, and AMerica influences , using such indigenous seasonings and ingredients as coriander, papaya, cacao, nispero, apio, plantains, and yampee. Locals call their cuisine "cocina criolla".

Moro is one of the most common side dishes eaten in the Dominican Republic it's rice cooked with black or red kidney beans. Is a popular dish not only in the Dominican but throughout Latin America.

The majority of Puerto Ricans are Roman Catholic, but religious freedom for all faiths is guaranteed by the Commonwealth Constitution. There is a Jewish Community Center in Miramar, and there's a Jewish Reformed Congregation in Santurce.
