Mark and his family

The creation of Facebook

He was the second of four children and the only son in the educated family. Mark’s father, Edward Zuckerberg, is a dentist and mother, Karen Zuckerberg, is a psychiatrist.

Zuckerberg and his friends created a site that allowed users to create their own profiles, upload photos and communicate with other users. The group ran the site—first called The Facebook—out of a dorm room at Harvard until June 2004. 6 months later, it already had 1 million users. Now, Facebook is the most known social network and Mark is one of the most rich people in the world because of it.

To keep up with Mark's interest in computers, his parents hired a private computer tutor to work with him.

Zuckerberg later studied at Phillips Exeter Academy, an exclusive preparatory school in New Hampshire.

After graduating from Exeter in 2002, Zuckerberg enrolled at Harvard University.

There he and his roommates started to work on an idea for a social networking site they called Harvard Connection in order to create a dating site for the Harvard elite.

However, his goal was develop his own social network with friends Dustin Moskovitz, Chris Hughes and Eduardo Saverin.
