Environmental Communication Strategies

Frances Obuseh

Artifact

In the room we have a large painting of the ocean that my parents have had for a long time this is a way of promoting calmness in a nonverbal manner.

I spend time in this room when I want to be alone. This room is sound proof so I am set apart from outside distractions.

Objects in the room

In the middle of the chairs are tables these tables encourage people to play games and eat while socializing. With out me having to tell people to relax and have fun the room nonverbally gives of a feeling that makes people feel like their in a comfortable environment.

The one thing I would change in this room to promote nonverbal communication would be to take out some of the tables. The tables make the room harder to move around. This would allow the room to be even more spacious to encourage movement and activity. Also I would add more light to the room to make the room feel brighter and more friendly.

The furniture is really comfortable and is aligned in a circle to create an inviting space and encourage conversation.
