At the temple of Athena I found a beautiful crown fit for a princess. The crown is busted up a bit, but is an amazing artifact. Then I found out that the crown was being preserved in the ground of the cave perfectly. The crown looked like it was made centuries ago.

Interpretation

The crown represents different animals so it seemed like it belonged to the Greek goddess Artemis. Artemis was part of oral traditions in ancient Greece. The people believed she was the goddess of animals, the hunt, and childbirth. They think that the crown was a sacrifice to the goddess of Athena or Artemis for good fortune. Or it was the crown of the statue Athena inside the temple.

Dating

My team and I were debating if we should do scientific dating or radiocarbon dating. We finally decided on scientific. We thought that it would have a more accurate date with scientific dating. We usually use absolute dating, but the crown didn’t have any words on it. The next day I went to the National Archaeological Museum to present what I found. The museum believed that it was between 800 bc and 146 bc.

Excavation

When I found it I fell straight into a cave with greek writing. I quickly got up and called my team. After I took one step it sounded like I was stepping on metal. I took out my flashlight and pointed it at my feet. There was a little piece of golden bar. I began to dig around it. It happened to be a golden crown. My team pulled me out of the cave and cheered me on for finding a special artifact. We were supposed to find greek pots, but this was a much larger discovery.
