Many homes in Berlin use ¨plus energy" which is a company that helps save and re-use energy in your home. many people know this energy source as the ¨efficiency plus home" this product/project includes solar panels for your roof, a touch screen on a wall or walls, chargers for electric cars, and 16,500 kwh of energy. In case the weather is nothing but rain and clouds the home can produce a week worth of energy, which gives you enough time for the weather to get better. And for now this is a test, but Berlin is planning on building all future houses this way.
All around the city are orange garbage bins, the colour choice might not go well with your shirt, but the bright colour does attract people so that they would throw away their trash in the bin instead of the ground. Not to mention, some bins have inspirational quotes or pictures on them and it adds a nice touch to the architectural design of the whole city. As much as Berlin is invested in their garbage bins, they are also very invested in recycling. White bins, green bins, and blue bins across the city for paper plastic and carton. Canada has to step up their game in the garbage business because Berlin seems to have it in the bag. Literally because there is garbage and recycling everywhere.
Berlin is the capital of Germany and the population is 3.5 million people. The religion there mainly consists of Christians. And fun fact it is nine times the size of Paris!
To reduce vehicle usage, Berlin made 390 miles of bicycle paths, so the residents to get around in a energy efficient way. Biking is also a good way to exercise and stay fit!
Berlin is part of the top ten most sustainable cities in the world. Today we will be talking about what makes them sustainable and why Berlin is part of the top ten cities. Hope you enjoy!

Berlin found a great way to recycle by using the "pfand". In German Pfand means deposit, if you bring in your cans or glass/plastic bottles you can "trade" for cash thats where the term deposit comes from.
