Activism is not the same.
Why would feminism Remain the same ?
There is no longer centralized movements in activism. Everyone pursues their own interests. Feminism is following this same thought process. Feminist Leaders are now just powerful women who are leading any other movement. Because Feminism implies that women are equal enough to do so.
- This being the case Feminism is bound to look very different then it has in the past.
It's no longer about the legalities
- Between 1776-1920 women gained the rights that all people have : to own property, their own economy and the right to vote
- Between 1920-1969 women gained the right to work anywhere they please, go to school anywhere they please and keep their children as long as they are fit if born in the US
- Only thing left to fight for is equal pay for equal work
- However, we have individualist society now
A Step Back : Understanding the Mindset
- We're told we can be anything we want to be
- ignores the communal and focuses on the individual
To Those Who Say We Lack Self- Respect:
- Amy Schumer is a perfect example of raunch culture: she talks and act's like a man but prefers to be looked at with a feminine air around her.
- She choose to take that picture : A conscious decision
- She possess the individualist mindset of trying to better herself.
I challenge you to look at the women who are successful in this country today and tell me they are no less passionate. It does not depend on what you are wearing.
Raunch: smuttiness or vulgarity
- When you think of raunch culture it is automatic that the objectification of women comes into play.
- Questions that should be asked instead are: is this objectification a conscious decision
Sex is Power
How will Women Agree
- This has been said over and over again, but its the truth.
- The person in control of how the sexualization is occurring holds the power
- so why not give women that power over themselves
An Example :Kim Kardashian
What we think of her versus what shes actually doing
- airhead, making money for no reason
- every time she steps outside she makes money from everything shes is wearing down to her nail polish
