Canada's Relationship with the British Empire Part I

Canada's Relationship with the British Empire

Back in the 20th century Canada had a necessary relationship with the British Empire. Now why was it important? Well without that relationship history would be totally different. Let me explain why. The relationship officially started on July 1, 1867 because that's when Canada became a official country. Now, why would this change history? Well, on August 4, 1914 Britain declared war on Germany and because the British Empire and Canada had such a good relationship, Canada helped them in the war.

Canada was very happy with the British Empire and enjoyed the peace and liberty of of it as well. They also had a rule going that Canada had to help the British in the war, and in return there would be harmony. Canada also felt " a strong connection to the British empire because of the culture and several immigrants living in Britain. Finally the great relationship between these two countries was a very important factor in the war.

Canada's Relationship with the British Empire Part II

How is Canada's relationship with the British today?

The British Empire did with the war; however, without Canada's help in World War one who knows what would be going on today. There were many other times that this relationship between Canada and the British Empire changed history. Like, the Constitutional Independence, World War Two, etc. Also the trading between the two countries is really good, being that the British Empire is Canada's third highest traders after the USA and China. In conclusion without Canada and the British Empire having a good relationship with one another history would be very different.

Canada and the UK were both at war during 1944. Sir WIlfrid Laurier was the one who asked for friendship. Since then, Canada has been allied with the United kingdom, in times of war, (WWI AND WWII) when training the military, etc... For certian programs, the UK trains in Alberta, while the Canadian army is allowed to train in the UK.

'' Is Canada and the Uk still connected?'' Even though Canada does have some independence from Britain, we are still slightly connected to the Queen. (who is a part of our monarchy)

When you think about it the Queen is kind of like our principal, who looks over important decisions, and signs important documents. In other words, Canada and The United Kingdom of Great Britain.

Canada's Independence Part I

Canada's Independence Part III

This act had replaced the BNA act and gave the Legislative power over to Canada. This meant Canada was able to make changes to the Constitution. The Constitution shows Canada's government system, laws, and the rights of people. The Constitution gives definite freedom for the people. Even though Canada had become an independent country, Canada and Britain had a mutual relationship.

Canada's Independence Part II

Facts

In 1981, the Canadian House of Commons and their Senate agreed on a decision that they'd ask the British Parliament to accept a package that would end the rule Britain had over the Canadian Parliament. Therefore, Canada would create a new way for constitutional improvements. The Canada Act included the words of the Constitution Act. The British Parliament had accepted the Canada Act, granted by Queen Victoria in 1867: which was 115 years before she gave Canada power over the country. Queen Elizabeth II had signed the proclamation in Ottawa, on March 29,1982 which brought the Constitutional Act into force.

The Act had represented the compromise between Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau's vision of Canada having two official languages. The Act had 34 rights based on tests. In the 20th century, Canadians had tried to gain independence and freedom from Britain. The signing of the Proclamation in 1982 was a representation of 100 years worth of Canadian political debates and decisions. Trudeau's last major act as prime minister was resigning the Canadian Bill of Rights in 1984.

- The United Kingdom is the second most important market, for military products, right after the USA.

- Canada doesn't pay any money to the Royal family.

- The UK and Canada also do charity work together.

-When it comes to politics the Queen can't choose sides.
