this is based on devotion towards amida Buddhism. its followers chant nebutsu which is short for namo amida Buddhism meaning greeting amida Buddha. they have to be aware of Buddha they hope that this will help them be released of troubles of life and into a pure Buddha land'

although they believe that you should follow the ways of Buddha, they recognize that not everyone can become a monk or nun. for this they are normally content to help the monastic hoping they will gain merit by doing so. they also hope that by supporting the monastic community that they will benefit from the teachings of the monks and nuns in some traditional Buddhist countries, the Buddhists will look after the monks and nuns by giving them things like food and other things they need. feeding monks and nuns is also a sign of respect for Buddha, his teachings and his followers

The Theravada Buddhist follows pattern of life or practice. Theravada Buddhism goes back to the earliest days of sangha. many people that follow Theravada Buddhism will tend to say that following Buddha teaching is the ideal life for a monk as your free from all distractions.

in return, the lay people believe that they benefit from the teachings of the monks and nuns and they also believe that practicing generosity will help them become better Buddhists and by helping monks they are fulfilling that deed. Theravada Buddhism is found chiefly in sri lanka and south east Asia. there is a high percentage of Theravada monks in westerly areas.

Buddhisms has always envolved a lot of meditation but in japan there is a form of meditation called zen that focuses a lot on meditation and finding inner peace. meditation is a way of training your mind the truth about you and your life. it helps become more aware of your actions. people believe that there is a buddha within himself or herself but most people dont recognise it

this is a modern japanese movement. it is concerned to promote peace. the members have built peace pagodas all overt the wold

Tibetan Buddhism is very colourful. during worship mantras are chanted over and over. these are phrases with symbolic meaning. there are candles and kamos at festivals and monks blow horns. all of this is very different to the traditions you find in Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism Tibetan encourages people to join the religion which is why its so bright

As the religion has spread throughout the world, there ways have adapted to the needs of different people and different cultures. As a result of this, there are now many different types of Buddhism. In this power point there will be 3 different types found mainly in Britain and in many other western country

tibetan worship as something that goes naturally. they could even chant mantras as they go about there day. they also have machines to remind them of there continuous worship. prayer wheels have mantras written inside of them. there are small ones and large ones. they also write prayers in pieces of cloth and hang them up like flags. they think its a way of joining in worship all the time. study and debate are important features of Tibetan Buddhism. it is what the monks and nuns do to check they have understood all of the teachings

this Buddhism was spread from china to japan. the term Mahayana means great vehicle suggesting that this type aims to help people move along the Buddhist path not just monks and nuns. there are many different types of Mahayana Buddhism, there are over 100 types in japan on its own. they all originated from china

In the Buddhist religion there are lots of different types or Buddhists. Over the world, there are around 350 million Buddhists. The majority of Buddhists live is places like China, Nepal, Korea, Japan, India, Tibet, Thailand, Sri Lanka but there are still many Buddhist all over the world. There are thousand that live in Britain.
