What are bath bombs?

Bath bombs are hard packed mixture of dry ingredients which effervesces when wet. they are used to add essential oils, scent, bubbles and color to bathwater.

Things you need:

- 1/2 cup baking soda

- 1/4 cup citric acid in powder form

- 1/4 cup cornstarch

- 2-1/5 tablespoons Epsom salts

- 1-3/4 teaspoons water

- 1/4 teaspoon fragrance oils

- colorant

- Plastic mixing bowl

- Gloves

- Jar with lid

- Molds or ice cube trays

Project Objective:

To investigate how changing the amounts of different ingredients in homemade bath bombs affect their fizziness.

Procedures:

1. Place baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, and Epsom salts in a plastic mixing bowl and mix thoroughly.

2. Place fragrance oil, water, and colorant in a jar and mix them completely.

3. Add the liquid mixture into the dry mixture, a few drops at a time, stir continuously and quickly until the combined mixture is dry.

4. Pack the combined mixture into molds and let them rest for two days.

Challenges:

Bath bombs are nothing more than a mix of fizzy ingredients, salts, food coloring, and oils.
