History

Archaeologist's have evidence that might indicate that this island was first settled by Sumerians. Muslims conquered and ruled until the 16th century. Later on Portugal took control of it until 1602. Then the Persians took in 1783. The British signed many treaties to protect it from the Turks but in exchange access to the Persian Gulf. Bahrain finally declared independence in August 14, 1950.

Climate: Bahrain has a arid climate. The summers are extremely hot and the winters are mild

Religions: 81.2% Muslim (Shia & Sunni), 9% Christian, and 9.8% other

  • Jabal ad Dukham is the highest point reaching 400ft
