War in the Pacific

The Navajos practiced the code

The U.S. dropped 2 bombs on Japan and they surrendered.

People cheered up and down the streets playing drums.

While practicing the code, the Navajos cleared the blackboards they were writing on and kept the code inside their heads.

Ned was sent to Boarding School to learn the Bilagaanas way of life. Ned introduced himself to other Navajos at the boarding school. He had his hair cut and he wasn't allowed to speak Navajo.

The Japanese would crash their planes into aircraft carriers and battleships.

Guam

Iwo Jima

Guam had longer bombardments than the other islands. The Japanese attacked at night to be sneakier.

Iwo Jima had Japanese antiaircraft guns on top of a mountain that shot American bomber planes. The Navajos put up the american flag. Ned didn't want to make many friends because they could die in an instant.
