Mathematics is a core subject in a school curriculum; Numeracy is present in all and an ongoing life skill learning.
The Early Years Learning Framework states that Numeracy in the early years includes understandings about numbers, patterns, measurement, spatial awareness and data as well as mathematical thinking, reasoning and counting. Within the Australian Curriculum, the foundation skills for numeracy are built predominantly in Mathematics.
