born July 12, 1968 in Trail, BC

Louis was the first son born to Jim & Cathy. He was known for getting into a bit of trouble from time to time. One story is as follows: A man, who was part of the golf club, ran into Jim Poch at a cafe. The man told Jim that he never knew what was going to be at the 2nd green, a sand "green." Once he found a sand castle with a flag over where the hole was supposed to be. Another time he found his ball had fallen into a mote made around the edge of the green. Turns out Louis and Jim Jr. had found a nice big sand pile to play with their Tonka toys.

My grandfather, Nono, was raised by foster parents, who had NO children of their own, since he was about 2 yrs old. His half sister, Anita, has met their biological mother, Mary Castellarin. They have many foster siblings, most raised from early childhood to adult by Angela & "Goe" on their farm in Langley BC in the 1960's & 1970's. Goe loved farming and was hard pressed to give up his horses for a tractor, but my Nono encouraged him. Wayne was the only son interested in the farm and was very close to his father.

Bill & Hazel had four children: Catherine - Dec 18, 1947, Janet - June 6, 1949, Ronald - Feb 12 and Allen - May 25, 1954. They lived in Trail most of their lives and were active in the community.

Bill lived in the Kootenays his entire life, except when he was stationed in Alaska during the war. Did even saw some 'action'. Bill was a member of several groups and worked at Cominco for over 40 years. Hazel worked in the Boeing factoring in Nelson during World War II. While she became legally blind in the 70's, she still loved to crochet and "listen" to books.

The Kassians came from the Ukrane and the MacLoed's & McIntyre's from Scotland, as far as the 1600's.

Louis & Kathy had two children: Richard Louis (Dick) - Feb 16, 1940 & Clarence James (Jim) - July 2, 1945. They lived in the Crowsnest Pass & Fernie most of their lives. Louis enjoyed fishing with his boys. He also enjoyed hunting.

Ken & Helen had four children: Roy - Aug 11, 1947, Allen - May 13, 1949, Diane - Sept 29, and Linda - Oct 17, 1951. Two of their children died before them, Roy on Oct 21, 1976 in a bulldozer accident and Diane on Dec 24, 2004 in a car accident.

Ken was a millwright and built his own log home on Deka Lake. They were a poor family and my grandma, Diane, remembers food was scarce. Ken & Helen divorced in the 70's and both remarried. Ken married Claire and Helen married Richard Miller. Neither had anymore children.

One of the last family photos with Helen & Dick, Allan is taking the pic. My mom is holding the baby.

Kathy was a lifetime member of the Royal Purple (Elks Club) in Fernie, BC. For a time she ran a hotel in Michelle (the town is now gone), near Elkford. She was very family oriented. She liked bowling, cooking, and visiting her grand kids. She was proud of all her great-grand kids. She just couldn't keep freshly made cookies around for long.
