What they Both have in Similarity

Regardless that one theory was accepted and the other wasn't, Darwin never would've been able to create his theory without Lamarck's basis of evolution.

Darwin

Darwin believed that all species came from a single common ancestor, this later became known as the theory of evolution.

Darwin's Theory on Natural

Selection suggested that nature would choose specific genes in a species help it adapt to its environment.

Darwin Started the Pathogenesis, A model that provided a mechanism for generating ample that is acquired during an organic life. Darwin and Lamarck had gone to the Galapagos islands and found variety in the life forms there.

Darwin had traveled the world and had found the same differences in organisms as Lamarck did, Except he formed a more scientifically accurate theory of an idea that natural selection chooses a gene to be more common to suit the organism to its environment.

Lamarck

Lamarck Believed That a species acquired certain characteristics to adapt to its environment.

Lamarck's theory (although revolutionary for its time) was rejected as it did not seem likely in the eyes of scientists.

Lamarck was known for his theory called

"The Theory of Inheritance" which stated that as a species adapted to its environment it would pass down its characteristics.
