What is Nationalism?

What does it mean to you?

To me, Nationalism means

showing pride towards a

country. You show you are

a proud citizen of that country.

I believe that it is good to show

your feelings toward your country.

Nationalism is when you

have a patriotic feelings towards

your country. You have lots of

pride in your country, and it's

when your proud to say your

from there. You can have

nationalism towards where you

were born, or where you live today.

Bedrich Smetana

He was born on

March 2 1824.

He died on May

12, 1884. He was

born in Litomysl

Bohemia.

How can it connect to music?

Antonin Dvorak is known

for his nationalism for his country

through his music because:

Nationalism can connect

to music by artists expressing

their feelings about their country

throughout a song.

*He celebrates nationalism

through his music.

*Antonin used Bohemian

folk dances in several of his

symphonies.

* He was extremely loyal and

proud of his country but was

also a brilliant classical composer

He trained with another famous

composer Brahms

Bedrich was known for

his nationalism to his

country through his

music because:

*He was the first

major nationalist

composer of Bohemia.

original using legends,

history and scenery

*He is a very committed

nationalist and is really

opinionated about how

Canadian's should act.

*He has won Juno

awards in the past and

actually returned them

to show how disappointed

he was with other Canadian

stars who work outside of

Canada.

*In 2004 the CBC took a

"Greatest Canadian Nationalist

Survey" Connors was voted

13th greatest Canadian of

all time, 5th greatest living

Canadian and top Canadian

performing arts figure.

Nationalism is important

to music because it is a

good way to express your

pride towards your country.

If there is someone who has

a lot of pride for their country,

they would enjoy hearing a song

about it.

Nationalism is important to me

because I love my country and

I really think it's important to

show it. Music is just one way of

expressing your nationalism. I

think that everyone should show

nationalism.
