My Family Tree

After getting to know the area better, my uncles, my father, and his uncles started to bring their families here. About all of my Mom's side of the family came to Dalton, while some of my Dad's uncle's and cousin's stayed in Dallas, Texas. They started to grow their familes here

In Mexico, my Dad worked as a Sheperd. He would take care of the sheep and goats He worked for his father, Raymundo, until his father got sick. He stopped working until he got better.

The first person out of my whole family to come here was my father's uncle, Roberto Estrada. Roberto then later brought along my father and his brother, Antonio in 1987. They lived in Texas and worked. My father had different jobs, one including working in a kitchen

How was life there?

My mom grew up going to school. The schools she went to were primary school & secondary school. After school, if you weren't working towards a career, women stayed home taking care of their children while men went out to work.

My parents came to Dalton for a better life for their children and for more job opportunities. There was also family living here for support they needed. Both my parents worked in Carpet factories.

My Sister and Oldest brother were both born in Mexico. In 1994, my siblings and my Mom immigrated to the United States. It was their first time in the US, but it wasnt the first for my Father. First, they crossed Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and finally arrived in Georgia.
