And the Mongols

In 1206, the Mongols banded together and

elected a leader for the purpose of expanding their

empire: Genghis Khan. The Mongols were skilled in the crafts of archery and horse riding from their experiences as nomads and quickly took over a good amount of Asia; the Silk Road had established connections between the Asian nations and those connections were quickly reestablished once the Mongols conquered everything. The system was once again used for trade and communication as in its former years.

There are tales of the mongols having huge armies,

this is not true. The armies were usually far less in number

than what a leader like Napoleon would have used.

Now you know why John Green always says "Unless you're the Mongols"

This a Mongolian Yurt, this was used a mobile house. often used by hunters and the army. It was easy to put and take down

The Mongolian empire is divided among Genghis Khan's sons.

The Silk Road was a large-scale system of trade and communication between Asian countries, spreading not only wares such as silk, salt and ceramics (pictured) but cultural elements such as religion, language and art. The trade systems can be traced back to around the 3rd century BCE to near the present day.

Genesis of a unified Silk Road

End of the Chinese Silk Road

1206

The Silk Road under the Chinese control had mostly faded with the end of the Tang Dynasty (around the end of the 9th century) and Chang'an was lost to raiders and bandits.

A significant unification of the Asian entities to fend off an opposing tribe, primarily controlled and established by China; this system was a base on which Genghis Khan and the Mongols were able to form their empire.

Flourishing time of the Chinese city Chang'an, which was somewhat of a capital of the Silk Road; at this point the population of this city had reached 2 million. This was a further development of the infrastructure the Mongols used, although the city itself dissipated to some degree after the 9th century.
