The wappo tribe loved to dance. Musical instruments used with the dancing! They usally visited neighbors on feast days to dance and have a ceromonie. The wappo had a small ceremonie when girls became women. They did not celebrate when a boy became a man though.

The Wappo tribe is one of the four groups. The Wappo were seperated from others in their family by 40 miles. They were surrounded by others who spoke different languages. But the Wappo tribe were friends with their neighbors anyway.
The villages were located in river and creek valleys just north of San Francisco Bay,also inland from the ocean. A few villages were on a stretch of the Russian and on elk creek that runs into the Russian river.

Both deerskins and tule rushes were used by the women to make their apron-like skirts. A narrow piece was worn in the front, with a wider piece covering the hips in the back. In warm weather, the men usally did not wear clothing, or they wore a piece of deerskin wrapped around the hips.

The Wappo tribe were known as a kind tribe. The Wappo tribe were not greedy at all. They felt for a person to own somthing was rude to people in their tribe. So they shared everything.
The Wappo houses were oval shaped. They were formed with a framework of willow poles,each bent in forward towards the middle of the oval. That was forming some sort of shape like an upside-down basket. The floor was dug 2 feet below ground level. All familys had their own doorway and fireplace.Also all villages had 1 or 2 sweathouses.
