As our film studies a fairly common but uneducated disorder we thought that it is most likely to be distributed by an independent film company (niche) than a conglomerate. The reason why it is more likely to be an independent film is because of the low production cost and the general limitation when making it.
As it's a independent film it gave us a chance to explore in depth our visualizations on the phobia which allowed us the free ability to adventure off from common stereotypical movies on illnesses which are conglomerate. If I was to pick an independent productions to supply my movie I would want to go by the company of Momentum Productions the reason being that One of the leading independent motions picture distributors in the UK and Ireland and release approximately 20 theatrical films a year which are Oscar, BAFTA and BIFA-winning films. I think if I was to go with a company as big as this it would defiantly give the film popularity as the audience would be interested why this company has picked this film to produce.
As we assume that our target audience to watch our thriller would be of an older generation we came to the conclusion that the future movie to be released would be exhibited. However, as a low budget has been supplied from the film producer to make the film it would have to be distributed in the common 2D instead of 3D/4D. Another reason why we wouldn't bother in considering on changing it into 3D/4D is because there is no need to. If it was to have feature on post production it would take away the meaning and purpose of the film.
What kinds of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
We believe that a great way to encourage a wider audience is if we could release directly to he public. If we were to release directly to the public it would prevent illegal piracy which would be a big benefit to us!
Although I previously said that the film would to be shown through cinematic viewing, what may be of a better idea would be to release it onto online streaming sites such as YouTube as the advertisements and sponsors before and during the videos would increase our income of money once its been distributed. Also upcoming popular streaming sites such as Netflix and Amazon prime as they collect millions from subscribers from across the world which would increase the films popularity.
Social Media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram would also be able to promote our film. As online sites are attended for users over the ages of 16, it shares the same age range as our estimated target audience which hopefully would create a wider audience from different locations around the world. I do believe that advertisement and sharing videos of the film on social media sites will be one of our strong abilities of making the film more well known.
A way to get an independent film bigger in the film industry is by entering it into film festivals. Not only by entering it into film festivals will encourage more people to watch it, it will get important and reliable feedback by film critics which if good feedback will encourager more people to watch it as there will be positive and official reviews.
