Over the course of his very short involvement Dan Cody changes in two different ways.

  • One way is that he becomes more and more inclined to spend his time drunk seeing as he had Gatsby do more and more things around the boat including steward, mate, skipper (captain), secretary, and even a jailor since Cody knew that he wouldn't be able to function well while drunk.
  • Cody also became more and more trusting of Gatsby. Dan bought Gatsby an entire new outfit and had him do more things around the boat during their five years together.

Interests

  • Partaking in the consumption of alcohol.
  • Trusting Jay Gatsby to all of the jobs around the yacht
  • Taking young men in and exhibiting kindness by buying clothes
