How did it start?

On October 18th of 1914 father Kentenich and a group of teenagers made a love alliance with Mother Mary, asking her to stablish herself spiritually in a chapel in Schoenstatt and turn it into a sacred place.

The Apostolic Movement of Schoenstatt is a Roman Catholic Marian Movement

founded in Germany in 1914,

by Father Joseph Kentenich.

The movement is named Schoenstatt which means

beautiful place.

Today

The Schoenstatt Movement is today present in aproximately 42 countries: 6 in Africa, 5 in Asia, 17 in Europe, 5 in North America and 9 in South America. Schoenstatt places a great emphasis on family, and youth especially are an important part of the movement. There are hundreds of Schoenstatt youth groups throughout the world
