Early Life

  • Born Dec 5, 1901 in

Chicago, Illinois to Elias and Flora Disney

  • Raymond, Roy, Herbert,

and Ruth were his siblings

  • Elias moved family to big

45 acre farm in Marceline,

Missouri with a farm and apple orchard

  • Older kids- Fields Younger- Animals
  • Walt loved animals and drew them on paper and with tar on the side of the house with his sister never coming off and tried a failed circus
  • Roy saw his creativity and bought him toys and art supplies
  • Everyone was tired and Herbert and Raymond ran away in 1908
  • Elias decided to move to Kansas City, Missouri where he started the Kansas City Star and Roy and Walt Delivered Papers
  • Roy left and Walt deepened his passion for the arts
  • 16 went to Art Institute of Chicago and made the "Tiny Voice''
  • Helped in France during WWI for medical purposes

Animations

  • Elias was upset with Walt's dream and Walt left to Kansas City with his brother
  • Became an Apprentice at Pesmen-Rubin Commercial Art Studio meeting Ub Iwerks becoming good friends and made the Disney- Iwerks Company but eventually went out of business
  • He wanted to continue with animations creating a new technology and a series called Laugh-O-Grams which were crazy popular
  • Made another series called Alice's Wonderland getting no money going into bankruptcy
  • He moved to Hollywood/ Los Angeles/ Hollywood area while in New York Margaret Winker wanted to own the series
  • Walt and Roy made the Walt Disney Studios
  • Married Lillian Bounds and had two daughters Sharron Mae and Diane Marie
  • First character was actually Oswald the lucky Rabbit then Mickey and his friends came along

  • Disney created the first full length animation called Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

  • Parents died company moved to Burbank, CA

  • Hired lots of workers after the war and the company boomed

  • “It consist of the Future World, a showcase for American industry, technology, and imagination, and a World Showcase, where the cultures and customs and number of other countries are displayed in individual pavilions.”
  • Has 11 different countries featuring there customs, cultures, cuisine, buildings, stories, and language
  • The Countries are Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, Untied States, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada.
  • Detail put into the park is amazing

Animal Kingdom

  • April 22, 1998 opened
  • Teaches people about animals, their habitats, countries culture, and medical practices
  • Low Key Education
