History of ASEAN

ASEAN, an abbreviation of "Association of South East Asian Nations" or Unity of Southeast Asian countries (Perbara). 

ASEAN was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand. At that time the establishment of ASEAN is spearheaded by five countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Thailand as well as being the first member of ASEAN. The process of signing the agreement done in one known as the Bangkok Declaration.

ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) is a geo-politic organization and economics established by the countries in Southeast Asia on August 8, 1967 in Bangkok (Thailand) in order to :

1. Enhance economic growth, 

2. Develop the culture of its member countries,

3. Maintain stability and peace as well as gives an oppormtunity to its embers to discuss differences peacefully.
