Achluophobia affects our lives in many ways. When people with this phobia lay down to go to sleep or when the lights go down in a movie, the person affected often feels increased blood pressure sometimes gets dizzy and in extreme cases feels panic attacks. Achluophobia can also affect daily life by causing insomnia, the medical condition in which the affected person is not able to sleep.

Achluophobia is the irrational, and exaggerated fear of darkness. This fear is actually fairly common and is pinpointed and emphasized in many modern horror movies, often making it many times more frightening and applicable because it hits so close to home.
