Egg Carrier Project

objective:

to make an egg carrier

out of wood and make a

parachute with it.

Steps

First I drew a design to show the side and top of the egg carrier.

-I had to draw these perfectly so when I put the wood down it was fit exactly.

After I drew them, I could get my materials together.

With these materials, I could get to work.

First, I put my design down on the foam board and place the wax paper over it. After doing this, I put pins down on the four corners of the wax paper.

When I got done placing my canvas together, I can start putting on wood.

First, you need to find wood to place at the exact length of the box. Sometimes, I would have to use the knife so the wood pieces could fit. I used the wood glue on the wax paper so I could dip the ends of the wood in the glue. This glue connected the wood pieces together.

4. When I’m done with the whole design (putting all of the wood together) I could pull off the design.

After the wood glue has dried, you can carefully pull the design from the wax paper. You need to be very careful in this step because you could break the wood pieces.

5.When you’re finished with all of the designs, you need to have 4 sides and 1 top.

After you get all of your sides together, you can glue them all together by their touching sides.

Assembling the Parachute

materials

12 pieces of colored tissue paper.

Glue stick

Gore pattern

Steps

1. First you need to trace your gore pattern on the tissue paper.

When you do this, stack the tissue paper together and cut the gore pattern out.

2. When that is done, you need to put all of the 12 pieces together.

You glue them by their sides about ½ inch overlapping the other pattern.

Glue Pattern

3.When done gluing all of the pieces you need to attach the strings to the parachute.

One string per triangle, 12 strings

Loop the string

4. You need to now tie the string to the box.

Make 4 sets of three strings

Tie the string on the four corners of the box.

YOU'RE DONE.

You need to make your drawing so everything matches up with the wood pieces exactly.

First, you need to draw a design for you box on the parachute.
