Government Agencies

for Services

Department of Education (DepED)

  • This deparment administers all public

and private elementary and secondary schools.

  • It tries to respond to the education of

the students and techers as well.

  • It implements educational policies.
  • It tries to make the curriculum responsive to

the needs of the time like the implementation of

the Basic Curriculum which started in 2002.

Deparment of Health (DOH)

  • This department is concerned about

the health of the people.

  • It provides free health services, hospitalization

and medicines for the public.

  • It launches programs and campaigns
  • to safeguard and maintain the health of the people.
  • It reminds people to avoid epidemics.
  • It sponsors on Family Planning,

immunization and breastfeeding.

  • This department implements policies

and guidelines for all hospitals, clinics and laboratories.

Department of National Defense (DND)

  • The deparment of National Defense maintains peace and order in the country.
  • This department has the duty to defend the country against terrorism

and foreign invasions.

  • The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) which is composed of the

Pilippine Army, Philippine Air Force and Philippine Navy is responsible for peace and order.

Department of Food and Agriculture (DFA)

  • This agency is tasked to maintain the supply of food in the country.
  • The DFA provides technical assistance to farmers, fishermen and

animal caretakers to increase the food production in the country.

Deparment of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)

  • The Derparment has the duty to protect the resources

and wealth of the country.

  • By its laws and programs and the help of the other

offices of this deparment, the land resources, water resources,

forest resources and mineral resources are taken care of.

Deparment of Agrarian Reform (DAR)

  • The department leads the implementation of programs

and laws that have something to do with land reforms.

  • It assists in the program of the government which grants

lands to the kasamas.

  • The Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP)

is one of the programs supported by the department.

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)

  • The DSWD grants sevices for the improvement

of the social condition of the Filipinos.

  • The office assists the orphans, aged, handicapped and

calamity victims to face life.

  • It coordinates with thelocal government units in extending

its assistance to the special people.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)

  • This deparment protects the rights of the laborers.
  • It helps settle disputes between the laborers and

owners of companies, factories and private firms.

  • The deparment gives protection to the unions

which support and defedn the rights of laborers.

  • It ensures the safety of the people who wish to

work abroad through the Philippine Overseas Employment

Administration (POEA) which is under the supervision

of the Overseas Worker Welfare Administration (OWWA).

  • The workers are protected by these agencies from ambushes such as physical abuse, unjust salary or delay of salary and violation of

the contract.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)

  • This department takes care of the smooth flow of trade

and commerce in and out of the country.

  • It also protects the welfare of the capitalists as

well as the producers.

  • The consumers' welfare also considered when it

sees to it that all goods bought are of appropriate

prices and in good condition.
