Not much information is known about Jesse lee Cooks background. At the age of 12 he was diagnosed as a severely disabled hapless classic multiple personality disordered individual.

-At the age of 12 he also was accused of trying to suffocate his mother.
-After this he was sent to Illinois State Training School for delinquent boys.
The First Killing
On October 19, 1973, Richard Hague, 30, and his wife, Quita, 28, were kidnapped by a group of men and forced into a white van as they took an after-dinner stroll near their home on Telegraph Hill.
First Killing Details
Mr. Cooks was 27 when this first killing took place.
Quita was fondled by two men
and then nearly decapitated by a third with a machete. One of the men who had fondled Quita then similarly hacked Richard and left him for dead, but he survived. Richard was able to give the police some information on his attacker.

Last Killing
the last killing took place on April 16th when a 23 year old man was gun down.
Jesse lee cooks was 27 almost 28 at the time of the last killing.
The End
Jesse Lee Cooks and all other members of the Zebra Killers were sentecned to life in prison.
HE also testified in court against the Zebra Killers. For doing all this he, his girlfriend, and newborn were put in witness protection where they received new identities.
Arrest
-Jesse Lee Cooks got arrested in May of 1974. The actual date is not known. He was arrest because of the member of the Zebra Killers named Anthony Harris, told about all the killings to the polic officers to collect the reward money. He told officers that he was present during some of the killings but had nothing to do with them.
Media Coverage
During this case their was not much on the news about it. On the radio they would warn people about the Zebra Killers and tell people to always walk in groups. The Zebra Killers got their name from a special police band that they assigned for the investigation of the the killings.
The Zebra Murders
- Were a a string of racially motivated murders, committed by four African-American men.
- That occurred in San Francisco , California from October 1973-April 1974.
-With the help of three other men he committed 14 execution style murders and 8 assaults .
- The Zebra Killers also known as the "Death angels" killed mostly white men and women.
