Traffic Jam

Sharockman, Aaron.(2011).<http://www.politifact.com/florida/article/2011/mar/03/fact-checking-high-speed-rail-debate/>

Effect 4

Migration of middle and upper class to urban areas (able to buy lager amounts of land)

Panther

Andrei, Mihai.(2013).<http://www.zmescience.com/science/domestic-science/traffic-jam-sollution-30092013/#!VbGwR>

Effect 2

Purchase larger land because it is less expensive

Manatees

Hawkins, Carol. (2014).<http://www.hawkinshearing.com/blog/index.php/2011/11/05/florida-manatees-silent-danger/>

EFFECTS

PRESENT

BIBLIOGRAPHY

Effect 1

Outward expansion

Effect 3

After new development, people demand improvement in infrastructure whaich ignites develpoment in urban areas

Overpopulation Awareness

S

  • Leapfrog development
  • Water shortage
  • Over population
  • Pollution in water
  • Florida Over Population Awareness Week

  • Focus on Florida:Population, Resources, and Quality of Life.<http://www.npg.org/specialreports/FL/fl_report.html>

Explain why these changes are good or bad.

These changes are bad because people keep moving outward to urban areas which then have to be drained and it kills the swamps/marshes there and all of the wildlife with it

Cause 3

Cause 4

Decreasing Commuting Costs

  • Race
  • "White Fight"
  • Racial Strife

Cause 1

Population Growth

Prediction 3

They will also most likely start to build roads and ways for transportation to and from the houses located in rural areas

Alligators and Crocodiles

River of Grass

N

  • Once covered 11,000 square miles
  • The River of Grass spans 60 miles wide but some places are only 6 inches deep
  • Mix of salt and fresh water which is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles live side by side

What changes will continuue to have the most lasting effects?

The population growth and the outward expansion will have lasting effects

Predicton 1

The Everglades/South Florida land will continue to decrease because of all the development

CAUSES

E

Wet Lands

Wet Land with Wildlife

  • Fresh water ponds, prairies and forested uplands with rich soil and alot of wildlife
  • Agriculture, development and farming lead to the sprouting of Miami and Fort Lauderdale

Prediction 2

Increase in population will have more people moving outward with development ideas

Cause 2

Rising Incomes

Napoleon Bonaparte Broward

P

Prediction 4

Loss of animals only native in South Florida. Wildlife will be lost.

  • 1905- Florida governor, Napoleon Bonaparte Broward, tried to drain Everglades to make land useable
  • 1948- US Congress made Cental and South Florida project which made the most effective water management
