State Technical Institute's Leisure Assessment Process (STILAP)

Purpose:

to help a client achieve a balance leisure lifestyle

1) Assessing leisure skill participation patterns

2) Categorizing these patterns in leisure competency areas

3) Providing guidelines for further leisure decision making and program involvement

Pros:

Scoring Sheet:

  • Only takes about 30 minutes to administer and 15 minutes to score
  • Can be used on a wide range of individuals
  • The key to complete the "Activity Checklist" is easy for clients to follow

Cons:

  • Clients must respond to 123 activities on the "Activity Checklist"
  • Filling out the scoring sheet is complicated because there are a lot of steps, so it is easy to make an error

Need:

  • 2 different colored markers
  • an ink pen
  • a ruler
  • score sheet

  • There is disagreement on the reliability of the assessment
  • Should be used along with other assessments
  • 1990 version has limited field testing
