SHOW don't TELL!

Group Short Story

Generating a short story

GET IN A GROUP OF 7!

- decide on a plot

- pick first line

use descriptive language to explain a feeling, an object, a sound, etc.

Short Story Unit

get with a partner

they can create ONE character! Ask them the questions on the sheet

ex:

The horse jumped over the obstacle.

The brown horse used every muscle in his large, hind legs to clear the red and white bar that was three feet off the ground.

1st half: decide on the plot and where the story will go

2nd half: WRITE YOUR PART!

Assign each group member to the following elements:

1. characters (must include 1 man 1 woman)

2. exposition

3. conflict

4. climax

5. rising action

6. falling action

7. resolution

ex: the used water bottle was in the trash.
