I chose Ed Sheeran because he is not only,in my opinion, a great singer/songwriter but he also a great example of all of his influences. I chose these 7 songs because I felt that they all had something in common with the other songs of Ed's influences, they had rap, great and meaningful lyrics, and the softer side of Ed's music.I feel like he is a great musician and without his influences he would not be the famous Ed Sheeran that everyone knows today.

I think Elliot Smith inspired Ed Sheeran because he has that simple yet unique quality that I think Ed Sheeran does. He also has like some of Ed's influences plays the acoustic guitar. Elliot has a simplicity in his voice that makes it so he isn't. It makes him complex, and I think that that's what Ed has. And I really enjoy comparing these two together.
This was the closest song that I found and it is very similar to Ed's songs actually, I feel like Jason has the same energy as Ed and even though Jason has trumpet I think Ed had the same flair without it. I also think Ed got some of his 'scat' form Jason as well.

I think Jack has a lot in common with Ed Sheeran including the Acoustic guitar, the sweet tone in his voice, and the way he sang his lyrics. I really,really like Jack Johnson because he has a really sweet voice and tone to him.

This song reminds me of Ed because of his instrumental projection, in the video David is playing acoustic guitar like Ed Sheeran in many of his video's including "One" the same title as David Gray's.

In my opinion I liked this song and this artist to be compared to Ed Sheeran I don't know why exactly especially since it's a duet but I just do and I think that he was no contest Ed Sheeran's biggest influence.

I definitely think that Ed Sheeran got his alternative rap from G.L&SS as soon as you listen to this song by them and then Ed Sheeran you can really tell that they are his influences you can hear it in the song.
I chose these 2 songs because I think they sound most like his vocal style and rythmn. These 2 songs make me feel like I'm lisening to Ed Sheeran, or at least close to him. These songs did not have rap in them like some of them,these songs, I think, show him how he got here. I think Josh Ritter influenced Ed Sheeran in a lot of ways.

I think Ben Harper had a huge influence on Ed Sheeran's style in lyrics, and he still has that calming effect that Ed does. Even though in this song Ben has a saxophone I think the style of his music really made an impact on Ed Sheeran's music.
